UPCH is the leading biomedical research university in Peru with sophisticated laboratory infrastructure (including category III facilities). Staff in the Faculties of Science & Philosophy and Public Health conduct internationally recognised basic science, clinical, epidemiological and translational research on the major communicable and non-communicable diseases of the region.

David Moore is an Infectious Diseases physician and researcher. He has led a clinic-epidemiological and laboratory research group in Lima since 2002 and, as a LSHTM staff member, holds a Visiting Professor position at UPCH where he has offices, administrative support and shares a category III TB research laboratory. He has published extensively in the field of tuberculosis diagnostics and drug resistance and has undertaken research studies evaluating the pharmacokinetics of TB drugs in diabetic TB patients.
